2-27-08 FS2004 Scenery - klvn_v1.zip - Airlake Airport (ICAO: KLVN, FAA LID: LVN) is a public airport located in the southern suburbs of the Twin Cities in Minnesota, near the communities of Lakeville and Farmington in Dakota County, about 22 miles (35 km) south of the central business district of Minneapolis. It is owned by the Metropolitan Airports Commission. Look for trains passing the airport. Requires the ai train set by Mitsuya Hamaguchi (ai_sl.zip). AFCAD file by Ray Lunning. 3-12-08 FS2004 Scenery - kryn_v1.zip - Ryan Airfield (ICAO: KRYN, FAA LID: RYN), is a general aviation reliever airport located 12 miles west of Tucson International Airport at the intersection of Ajo Way and Valencia Road. The field was created in the 1940s as a training camp for the Army Air Corps. After the war, the state of Arizona approached the Tucson Airport Authority, who also manages Tucson International, about operating the airfield. The Authority and the state entered into a long-term lease agreement and over the years Ryan Airfield has become a busy and popular airfield. 3-15-08 FS2004 Scenery - kmzj_v1.zip - Pinal Airpark (IATA: MZJ, ICAO: KMZJ) is an airport located in Pinal County, seven miles (11 km) northwest of the central business district (CBD) of Marana, a city in Pima County, Arizona, USA. Its main purpose is to act as a "boneyard" for aircraft. Old airplanes are stored there with the hope that the dry desert climate will prevent rust and other forms of corrosion in case the aircraft is pressed into service in the future. Even so, many aircraft which are brought there wind up being scrapped. Nearby Davis-Monthan Air Force Base provides the same service to the U.S. military. 3-25-08 FS2004 Scenery - ktex_v3.zip - Telluride Regional Airport (IATA: TEX, ICAO: KTEX) is a public airport located 5 miles (8 km) west of Telluride, in San Miguel County, Colorado, USA. It is the highest commercial airport in North America, at an elevation of 9,078 feet (2767 m) above sea level. Located on a plateau, the airport's single runway literally dips slightly in the center. 3-30-08 FS2004 Scenery - subbase.zip - Naval Submarine Base New London Groton CT. On the east bank of the Thames River near Groton, CT, New London Naval Submarine Base was the birthplace of the submarine force. It was originally a Navy yard, converted to a submarine base in 1916, and greatly expanded in World War II. The advent of nuclear power required an improvement in training and support facilities. By 1959, New London had become the largest submarine base in the world with 8,210 active personnel. The base was recommended for closure by the DoD in the 2005 BRAC Recommendations. It is the headquarters of the U.S. Strategic Command, the Air Force Weather Agency, and the 55th Wing. Its legacy includes the construction of the first two bombers to drop atomic bombs and nearly 30 years as the aerial command center for the U.S. in case of nuclear war during the Cold War.
